Envision hands project.
Mel Clohesy suggested “that we participate in the Envision Hands project and collect the bottle tops with “2” or “4” inside the lid”. Julie Henderson to make collection points easier which we will place in various outlets around the town. The idea was eagerly accepted by the Lions committee and we have made a good start to this wonderful project.
The members of the Merrigum Lions Club are proud to advise that we are now a collection point for the "Lids4Kids" bottle top recycling project for Envision Hands. Lids4Kids North East are co-ordinating the collection and storage of these bottle tops before sending off to be made into hands for needy children.

We have embarked on another project that of assisting ‘Merrigum Historical Society’ to finance a new large shed on the society’s site to accommodate much of the equipment they have amassed over the years. This will no doubt be of enormous benefit when they hold their Open Days. We anticipate a welcoming response from the local community and visitors to the open day and it will also provide some shelter on days when the weather is not cooperating as it should.
